Sonanta is built so you know where your money goes —and so that only you know. This policy explains, in plain language, what data is handled and what isn't. The short version: your financial information lives on your iPhone; Sonanta doesn't collect it on any server, doesn't sell it, and shows no ads.
The essentials: Sonanta runs on your device. Voice, receipt photos, and your expenses are processed and stored locally. We have no servers that store your personal information, and we don't share it with third parties for commercial purposes.
Contents
01Data controller
The party responsible for processing personal data is Jesús Eduardo Hernández Martínez, owner of the Sonanta application, located in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. You can reach us at hola@sonanta.com.mx.
This policy is governed by Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP) and its regulations.
02What data is handled
Sonanta handles the minimum amount of information possible, and in general it never leaves your device:
- Your expense data: amounts, merchants, categories, payment methods, dates, notes, shared expenses, and receipt photos that you record. Stored locally on your iPhone.
- Voice audio: when you dictate an expense, the audio is transcribed on the device and is not transmitted or kept as a file.
- Receipt photos: saved as a file on your device, encrypted by the system, and read with local text recognition. They aren't uploaded to any server.
- Anonymous usage data: product metrics (for example, whether a capture was saved or edited, timings and rates) that do not identify you and contain no amounts, merchants, or transcriptions. In the current version this data stays on your device.
Sonanta does not ask you to create an account, and it does not collect your name, email, phone number, location, or contacts.
03How it's used
The data you record is used solely to provide the service: to show and organize your expenses, interpret them by voice, generate summaries, and —if you enable Sonanta Pro— budgets, subscriptions, and queries. Anonymous usage data helps us understand how the product behaves and improve it, never to profile you.
04On-device processing
Speech recognition, the interpretation of your sentences, receipt reading, and all calculations happen on-device. Sonanta works offline and doesn't rely on our own servers to operate. This means your financial information doesn't travel over the internet to us.
05iCloud backup
If your device has iCloud enabled, Sonanta can back up your data to your own iCloud account so it survives a phone change. That backup is handled through Apple's services, under your account's control and Apple's privacy policy. We can't access or view that backup. You can disable it from your iPhone's iCloud settings.
06Permissions (microphone, camera, speech)
Sonanta requests only the permissions it needs, and only when you use them:
- Microphone and speech recognition: to log expenses by talking. Audio is processed locally.
- Camera: to photograph receipts. The photo is processed on the device.
You can revoke these permissions at any time from Settings > Sonanta on your iPhone; some features will stop working, but the app will keep working with manual entry.
07Third parties and transfers
Sonanta does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. We don't integrate advertising networks or third-party analytics SDKs. The only third party involved is Apple (as the provider of the operating system, iCloud, and the app store), whose processing is governed by its own terms.
08Purchases and subscriptions
If you purchase Sonanta Pro, the transaction is processed through Apple's App Store. We do not receive or store your card or payment details; Apple handles billing under its policies.
09Retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you control it. You can delete expenses individually or use the "Erase all my data" option in Settings, which removes expenses, categories, methods, subscriptions, learning, receipt photos, and local metrics, leaving the app as if freshly installed. Uninstalling the app also deletes the local data. The iCloud backup is managed from your Apple account.
10Your rights
Under the LFPDPPP you have the right to Access, Rectify, Cancel, or Object (ARCO rights) to the processing of your data, as well as to withdraw your consent. Since Sonanta doesn't keep your data on our own servers, you can exercise these rights directly in the app (by viewing, editing, or deleting your information). If you need further assistance, write to us at hola@sonanta.com.mx and we'll respond within the timeframes set by law.
11Children
Sonanta is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect their data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor used the app, the data resides on the device itself and can be removed with "Erase all my data" or by uninstalling the app.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app or the law. The current version will always be at this address, with its update date. If there are significant changes, we'll aim to notify you within the app.
